The Bhakti Pradashini Mandir Inc. was established on October 23rd, 2007 by Pandit Sureish Sookul, with the help of his devotees and the Hindu community. Regular Sunday service (satsangs) began at 89-44 204th Street, Queens, New York, 11423. In 2008 the Mandir was registered as a non-profit religious organization, with the 501(c)(3) exemption status. On August 14th, 2009, with the observation of Shri Krishna Janam Ashtmi, the mandir moved to 195th Street, Jamaica, New York, temporarily as it's place of worship as well as 99-03 207th Street, Queens, New York, 11429. We've merged with Dayaram Mandir 88-40 192st, Queens, NY, 11423
The continuation of regular Sunday morning satsang and religious festivals filled the hearts of the joyous congregation. Bacho Aur Baytee Ka satsang, performed on the last Sunday of every month, gives the youths of our community the chance to perform hawan under the guidance of our Spiritual Leader, Pandit Sureish Sookul.
Every year the Bhakti Pradashini Mandir, Inc. celebrates its anniversary with a cultural event (Geet Ki Awaaz). This event gives the youths and others of the community an opportunity to demonstrate their talents in music, dance, skits/plays, and other cultural talents. Overall, this event portrays the greatness of our beloved Sanatan Dharma.
Pandit Sureish Sookul is the Mandir’s official Spiritual Leader. He is the Son of the late Pandit Pooran Sookul and Drupattie Sookul of Guyana. Panditji is from a long linage of Pandits from both late parents. His Wife Ellen Sookul and sons are ardent supporters of the Bhakti Pradashini Mandir, Inc.
Panditji taught at the Leonora Primary School in Guyana for sixteen years. He completed his educational career at the Cyril Potter College of Teachers Education. He also pursued further studies at the University of Guyana. Pandit Sureish Sookul gave his ardent service to the Hindu community in Guyana for twenty five years. He served in the Guyana Pandits’ council and also the USA Pandits’ council. Panditji continues to give his voluntary services to the Mandir and the community at large.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals of building an organization and community that protects and endorses the teachings of our great Sanatam Dharma.
We thank you in advance for your for most thoughtful and appreciated contributions.
